LGBT culture in Saxon schools… What to expect from this website?
This project was founded within the framework of the seminar “LGBT culture” at Leipzig University led by Mr. Gómez Prada.
As we are a group of teachers-to-be, we made the decision to investigate further how LGBT culture is currently represented in the Saxon school system.
On this website we approached different perspectives concerning this issue:
We analysed curricula and school books of different school subjects in Saxony, the Education Act of Saxony and module handbooks of the subjects for students who want to become teachers. We also talked to other teachers-to-be, teachers, students and former students and quoted some of their feelings and experiences on this website. Finally, in the “links”-section, you will find some links about ongoing changes and public discussions concerning the topic.
It is up to the individual to build their own opinion about this issue, but we hope we have provided a detailed insight into the topic which gives everyone the chance to find an own point of view.
Our aim is it to establish awareness of LGBT culture in schools and we hope that this website can be a part of this process.
